About 5 weeks after seeing Mickey Avalon, the Stanley Cup and part of the Ducks championship team, I was invited by a friend to join her in seeing Paul Oakenfold. This is the last night the main promoter would be at this venue, and I had to leave my camera at home for the first time. Since it takes 2 - 3 hrs to do hair and makeup (not me), we got there around 12:15am and my car smelled like Liz Clairborne. We got the happy face stamp and headed to the end of the VIP cabanas. The people at the cabana were a lot of fun and encouraged us to dance and drink. We couldnt see the DJ but the music was clear and we could hear it and see the videos on the side walls.
Lights came on at 1:30am and Paul played for another half hour. The music is so much fun to dance to eventho my friend would have prefered i took more cell phone pics of her, Around 2:00am, the place was clearing out and my friend told me later she headed in the direction of the music, she didnt believe Paul Oakenfold was there, she thought it was a cd being played. After she went running up to the stage to meet Paul Oakenfold, I noticed she was the only female he talked to, I wasn't aware Paul knew my friend, he mentioned that she was the hottest looking lady in the club, most would have agreed. I dont have any photos to prove I was there but the hundreds in attendance were impressed and my friend was on cloud 9 having seen Paul Oakenfold live and getting to talk to him for a few minutes after the show.
