There are times in your life when you just want to go on national television and make an ass of yourself. If you happen to be over the tender age of 24 and American Idol refuses to see you, then try Dance-Off Pants-Off, Fuse TV’s answer to the escalating desire to be a stripper.
The show, which is hosted by Full House alum Jodie Sweetin, allows dancers of all ages and sizes to compete for the ultimate prize: title of Pancer and $200. With frequent bits of witty commentary from Jodie and an endless supply of narcissistic contestants, Pants-Off Dance-Off has reached the end of its season.
So what does that mean? An uninterrupted Pancer Bowl full of ladies who all happen to be the same size: small. Airing during the Super Bowl half-time, the Pancer Bowl will consist of Lucy Buttons, Sasha, Laurie and Jen dancing to nakedness to Prince. Host Jodie Sweetin talks about the show, her life after Full House and what exactly went down at Hyde.
Tell me a bit about the show.
Jodie Sweetin: We are doing the first ever Pants-Off Dance-Off Pancer Bowl for the Super Bowl. It’s going to be really fun. It’s going to be during half time and we’re actually going to have an all-day marathon on February 4th.
An all-day stripper marathon. Sounds fun!
JS: The Pancer Bowl will interrupt the marathon. We’re going to have four of our female dancers brought back and they’ll be dancing to Prince. Its starts at 4PM and goes until 4AM. It’s going to be 22 minutes, commercial free, with the dancers going at it. The winner is going to get this amazing Pancer Bowl trophy and it should be some good competition.
And what will you be doing?
JS: I’m going to be the referee, making some calls. Penalty!
So they’ll be dancing to Prince. He should get an official Super Bowl sponsor t-shirt.
JS: Yeah, we’re sticking with the Prince theme. Which is good because I absolutely love him. I saw him at the Staples Center. I think Justin Timberlake and Prince were like the two most exciting concerts. I was like a little girl. Prince is definitely one of my favorites.
Speaking of favorites, I noticed on your website that you prefer Perez over Pink Is The New Blog. Are you a gossip monger, too?
JS: To be honest, I don’t really read the blogs. But I met Perez so that’s why I picked him. Perez says some interesting things about people but I choose not to read any of the tabloids or blogs. Most of them are untrue and hurtful to a lot of people.
Yeah, the tabloids were pretty mean when they showed video of you getting rejected at Hyde. What was up with that?
JS: That was a pretty funny incident. I had some friends in town who wanted to go out and so we had tried several other places and everything else was closed. I had no idea what Hyde was. It was the fourth spot we tried to get into that night. It’s wasn’t a big deal to me. It was like, “Okay, see you later!”
If only the contestants on Pants-Off Dance-Off were that easy to deal with!
