Good read in the
New York Press about Crobar's main doorman, Gilbert Stafford.
Some highlights:
*He's been shot at three times.
*Three years ago, he had to get six stitches in his face thanks to a thrown beer bottle.
*400 people wait 90 minutes to squeeze into Crobar. (Only 90? Line's moving at a good clip.)
*Chatting on the cell while waiting in line is a big no-no.
*A pack of 20 drunk dudes can't get in. Surprise!
*Some flock to Crobar because of the Stafford himself.
*VIPs, according to Stafford, include, "nightclub veterans, the beautifully dressed, the moneyed set, and of course the just plain beautiful people."
Like Clubplanet's
Do's and Don'ts and
How to Get In, the rules of the game are the same:
1) Don't come with a pack of guys
2) Get there early. When the club gets crowed, the Door Gods get selective.
3) Be respectful.
4) Don't beg.
5) Don't be a
fashion disaster.
