ClubPlanet Interview: NEW WORLD PUNX

ClubPlanet Interview: NEW WORLD PUNX

It only seemed like a few short weeks ago when we had the honor of hosting the spirited duo in our home city of New York. As the city that is infamous for never sleeping, it was only fitting that we hold legendary DJ & producer Markus Schulz to take us on a journey through electronic music.

After playing a 12 hour solo set last year at the highly-accredited Belgium music festival Tomorrowland, and the recent and incredible 10.5 hour set that he brought to New York City this past February, we could not have been more ecstatic about welcoming him back to his second home outside Miami. However, the night would not have been complete without his partner in crime; his right hand man and one of his best friends; the Dutch legend Ferry Corsten was ready to bring New York on an incredible journey once again. Together as one, together as the New World Punx, they set out on just one simple mission, to travel the world and wreak havoc on dance floors worldwide with the slyest grin of satisfaction. The duo, of which was organically created soon after being booked together for a show at Echostage in Washington D.C. were set to play together atElectric Daisy Carnival New York 2014. Clubplanet jumped on the opportunity to speak with them before their incredible set.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clubplanet: So the last time you guys played in New York was at MSG (madison square garden), which was probably a legendary experience. How do you guys feel about such an achievement?

Markus Schulz: MSG is something every artist dreams of playing at. It was crazy and amazing to play at this amazing venue where legends have played. It is something that we just needed to

CP: Yes, legends have played there from John Lennon, Michael Jackson...and now Electronic Music is indeed taking over. The last time you guys were at Roseland Ballroom, mind you; that was an amazing experience, I was there... How was that?

Ferry Corsten: We love NY. We love the vibe, the energy, and the liveliness that comes with the city. It is always a pleasure playing in NY.

CP: Now that Roseland has officially closed down, what are some prospective new venues you would spin?

Markus Schulz: Maybe MSG again... haha ClubPlanet: MSG is an amazing venue but half your fans are in seats...

Ferry Corsten: Maybe Hammerstein Ballroom...

CP: Now Hammerstein is an amazing venue. What is your favorite venue in NYC, not including the legendary MSG?

Ferry Corsten: We’ve done Pacha! Markus Schulz: My favorite venue would be Webster Hall.

CP: Now you guys are going to play an 8 hour set at Tommorowland this summer. Excited? Nervous?

Ferry Corsten: Well Markus is playing the 8 hour set in Tommorowland, and then the next day we take on the main stage as New World Punx. Tommorowland is always a pleasure. The energy is just something beyond this world.

CP: So you guys are a duo. Who starts of the set, starts that starting button, and drops that first.

Ferry Corsten: We really don’t mind too much about who starts the set.
Markus Schulz: No, I really like to start the first song. There’s something special about starting the set and seeing the crowd start pumping to the music you started
Ferry Corsten: Maybe next time we should fight over it, slow motion...
Markus Schulz: HAHA yes. We will fight over it.

ClubPlanet: Well thank you so much for your time; I cannot wait to hear this set of yours tonight for EDC.

Ferry Corsten: Our Pleasure
Markus Schulz: Thank you

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Be sure to follow the New World Punx as they embark around the world, our guess is it won’t be long before the energetic duo return back to New York to unleash further mischief through music! Who knows where we’ll see their next performance at.. We hope that the Hammerstein Ballroom gets paid a visit by the Punx soon.
