Typically in most countries, Gold is given as a gift to celebrate the 50th anniversary or happening of something worth celebrating. However on May 19th, Gold was in full effect for a celebration of 100. With panoramic views of NYC as the backdrop, Thomas Gold brought the official celebration of his 100th episode of his weekly mixshow "Fanfare" to the rooftop of the Standard Hotel at Le Bain, and what a celebration it was.
Thomas was front and center from 8pm onward greeting all the guests and stopping to talk with us at Clubplanet for a few before his set. He was very excited for his upcoming set at Electric Daisy Carnival on Sunday where he plans to debut a new collab with Borgeous (keep your ears open for that!). The German-born DJ also told us how he has a weekly routine of making his mixshow everywhere from hotel rooms to airplanes, and thanked his great team on helping him upload and share the show to his many social networks.
After he posed for pictures and met everyone in attendance (approximately 150 people or so) it was time to kick off the set, which was broadcast on Sirius XM as well. Of course the grand nature of fanfare was showcased with his opening marching drums! He went on to feature tracks both old and new, rocking everything from Tommy Trash's new offering on Hysteria Records "Lord of the Trance" to classics of his like "Sing to Me" and "Alive". A great moment came when he dropped Eric Prydz (Cirez D) classic "On/Off" and told us, "This is my favorite record of ALL TIME! I have to play it!"
He also, in true celebratory fashion, reminded everyone of the OPEN BAR and had rounds of shots brought to the DJ booth, only to pass them out to the crowd in front of the booth to cheers a great achievement of bringing the latest and freshest tunes to everyone's ears on a weekly basis.
You can catch Thomas rocking kineticField at EDC NY on Sunday at 530pm and of course listen to Fanfare Radio every Saturday on Sirius XM and if you miss it, he uploads it to Soundcloud every Tuesday morning as well.
