BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix Welcomes Tiësto Back

At some point in their career, everyone who is anyone has lent their mixing skills to BBC Radio 1's pivotal radio program Essential Mix hosted by Pete Tong. Gracing the Essential mix turntables in 2014 so far have included "future stars" Kölsch, Friend Within, Sunnery James and Ryan Marciano, and DJ Snake. Closing out January, this week's two-hour slot will go to Tiësto, marking his first appearance on the show in almost a decade; since the 2006 live broadcast at Global Gathering, joined by Deep Dish, Fatboy Slim, and Ferry Corsten. Friday night's show will be his eighth Essential Mix to date. Here's to hoping he plays some trance. The superstar DJ/producer is also doing a Club Life set at Marquee in New York on Saturday for those in town for the Super Bowl.

To tide you over, here's his debut Essential Mix from 2001, before the term "EDM" became relevant and he was still considered a "future star" himself.
