Hakkasan Plays A Strong Hand In The Battle For Vegas DJ Residencies

In the battle to secure the big names in Las Vegas, it looks like Hakkasan have just produced a Royal Flush. The superclub has announced the line up for it's 2014 residencies and there's no denying that they have blown the Las Vegas club scene apart with the bookings.

In addition to current residents Calvin Harris and Tiesto, we see the addition of Afrojack, Above and Beyond, W&W and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. Deadmau5 will NOT be returning but we will see Dada Life, Danny Avila, Steve Aoki and Fergie DJ back in the 80,000 square feet and four stories high nightclub, found deep within the MGM Grand.

Ex-XS resident Afrojack is moving down the strip to his new home and is looking forward to getting started. He told Billboard, "I've been home for four years at XS where I had a great time, but Hakkasan provided me with the option to try something new in a new venue, so I'm looking forward to trying a new kind of party there."

With Hakkasan currently being one of the hottest clubs in Sin City, it's no surprise the new residents wanted to join the team, and of course, we're also betting the fees getting thrown around had something to do with hooking all the acts. It's no secret that, as first reported in Forbes, Hakkasan had previously offered Afrojack almost double what he was pulling in from his residency at The Wynn-reportable six figures-and we're guessing that kind of offer was put back on the table.

For Las Vegas, this can only be a good thing. It shows that the hotel and club owners still have faith in the electronic dance music scene and see no sign of the it slowing down. When it comes to who is the most appealing line ups on the strip, we have to say that Hakassan is starting to pull away from the crowd.
