The New Year started with another rant from everyone's favorite outspoken dance music artist, deadmua5
, AKA Joel Zimmerman
, saying "2014 had a seriously shaky start for me." He went on to vent his frustration at the crowds of "trust fund kids" who were at the Miami
leg of his "Unhooked
" tour and how he's angry at not being in control of his shows.
was playing at Miami
on New Year's Day
and was more than a little bit unhappy with the VIP's in the front row at the club who were spending more time texting, rather than enjoying the gig. Taking to twitter during his set, he tweeted, "Lol at the entire front row glued to their fucking phones. Much party. Many text. WOW" He followed up by posting this picture
Going into further details on his Deadmau5 Live
explained, "I f**king reamed out my agent for making me deal with that." He went on, "Putting fans in the back and trust fund kids up front is f**king stupid as f**k." He even went as far to say that he "won't be playing any more Miami
is obviously not happy with the way his tour has been running and had a sharp did at promoters and their ways of selling "his brand," saying that "9 times out of 10, some asshole promoter is taking advantage (of his brand) to sell the fuck out of a show.'" And he didn't stop there. Even the promoters of his New Year's Eve show at the Nassau Coliseum
in New York
--where the event was billed as an 18+
show and where no alcohol would be served--were at the receiving end of his wrath.
He tweeted on New Year
, "I apologize on behalf of the NYE event production, because livenation won't. As s**tty as it is. We're going to make the best of it."
explained, "Live Nation
thought it would be an AWESOME idea to put ME there. I was like, 'Okay, event's already announced? Uhhh s**t... Can't cancel it.' Cancelling a NYE show is a kiss of death." Continuing his rage, he went on to say, "Seriously, who the f**k does an event for NYE with no alcohol, and THEN makes it 18+. I swear someone's getting hung." Angry about looking like he has no say over his tour, or his brand, he explained further to his fans, saying, "It's frustrating being held back by some dude's BS. It's the event producers and promoters giving (people) something to hate that's beyond my control."
Upset at how his year ended--and started--it seems there is only one way that deadmau5
can fix the problems in his camp. He wants to have full control of things and he's not messing about, saying, "My own tour, my own venues, my own prices, my own policies. Seriously, I just want to have great f**kin' shows with great people, not deal with VIP bulls**t, overcharging for fucked up shit, etc. etc."
So when can we expect this to happen? Well, according to Zimmerman
, not for at least a year. He told his fans, "We're trying our best to shoot for fall for the 'big ass show' project we've been working on for the past 2 years, but ABSOLUTELY worst case... spring 2015."
We have a feeling this is not the last rant we'll be hearing from Mau5
