Without the work and dedication he's put into this beautiful scene we all know and love called dance music, there would be many, MANY a DJ out there who would have remained undiscovered. He’s a legendary DJ, a radio host of one of the most iconic dance music shows in the world and to many, he's one of the main pioneers of electronic music; and now he's an MBE
For all you non British out there, that means a Member of the Order of the British Empire
. It's a VERY prestigious award and our very own Pete Tong

's New Years Honors
list for Services to Broadcasting and Music
Pete, who relocated to Los Angeles earlier this year, has had a hugely successful 2013 and, as well as seeing his long running BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix grow to a world wide audience thanks to the global dance music boom, he's toured extensively and chalked up appearances at some of the world's biggest events.
To list everything the pioneer DJ has achieved throughout his career would take a very long time--even if t was just his highlights--but, ever the humble man that he is, Tong stated that it would never have happened without “so many great tunes.”
In receiving the MBE he said, “It’s great to receive this honor for being a DJ. I’m proud that it acknowledges a profession that I care about a great deal, and one that’s made a huge impact around the world.
He went on to say, “I’d like to thank BBC Radio 1 for its unerring commitment to dance and electronic music and for supporting and encouraging me for over two decades. I’d like to thank all the club promoters in the UK and around the world for their passion and commitment to putting on amazing events and the artists producers and DJs that have been making and innovating with the music…Finally, to my family and team who have supported me on this journey in so many ways – thank you.”
Congratulations Pete, you deserve it!
