Eric Prydz Awarded With The Title Of BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix Of the Year
by Mikey Lavery
What a year it's been for Eric Prydz. The Swedish DJ and producer has had a momentous 2013, as he's taken the U.S. club scene by storm.
As well as playing some of the best sets of the summer's festival season, other highlights included his second Grammy Nomination for the M83 'Midnight City' remix; his EPIC 2.0 tour selling out across the U.S.; and of course, his new Las Vegas residency. And if that's not enough, he was just awarded the title of BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix of the Year.
The Essential Mix runs every weekend of the year--including on some special occasions from dance music events around the globe--with the world's leading acts producing a mix for the iconic radio station. This year, a panel of DJ legends including Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Toddla T, Danny Howard and an Essential Mix superfan, all voted Eric Prydz for coming up with the best one.
What made him stand out from the crowd was that the mix included tracks from all three of his aliases - Eric Prydz, Pryda and Cirez D - as well as superb flow of various dance music styles throughout the two hour mix.
