Zedd Starts Out 2013 on Primetime TV

DJ sensation and German producer Zedd made his contribution to the rapidly increasing presence of EDM in mainstream pop culture when he appeared on Late Night with David Letterman recently. The young artist traded his laptop for a baby grand piano and performed a stripped-down version of his 2012 hit Clarity on the stage that has hosted many legendary musical talents before him. Accompanied by artist Foxes on the lead vocals as well as an orchestra, the single was delivered absent of the electronic qualities that made it popular among its original fan base; a remix unlike any we’re used to. We’re not complaining though, and neither are the critics.
From the performance, Zedd brought “clarity” to a far wider audience of consumers, while still maintaining loyalty to the electro-house fans that have supported him in his rise to fame. But it’s fair to say that his debut went relatively undetected by the masses and Zedd shouldn’t be associated with the pressing fear of EMD’s exploitation for commercial gain…or at least, not yet. Instead, we congratulate him on the milestone and look forward to another year of massive hits. Check out a different acoustic performance of Clarity below:
