Recently I attended a charity event at Chelsea Piers that was both fun and for a worthy cause. It was called Trevor Live, and benefited the Trevor Project, the largest national organization to help LGBTQ teenagers who are bullied to the point of attempting suicide.
When I first heard that LGBTQ youth attempt suicide at a 40% higher rate than straight teenagers, I immediately took a $25,000 dollar Titanium table along with Macy’s, which guaranteed me a great front row table at the event.
Actress Susan Sarandon was honored for her support and Stanley Tucci was the host, along with comedian Judy Gold. Linda Lavin, Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sarah Moon and Anthony Rapp were also in attendance. With all those celebrities, it felt like the Academy Awards, not a charity dinner.
To top it off, “fun.” and “Steve Kazee” performed. Now I’m hooked, the Trevor Project will ALWAYS be on top of my list for charitable donations.
